I don’t have anything like a smart phone but was wondering if the iPad has built-in internet? Can I go anywhere and use it, do I need to pay a monthly service charge, etc? I don’t have a smart phone so I don’t want to pay a monthly charge but want to use internet. Thanks.

No, they dont have built in internet. The IPad can hit the internet through wifi though. But the downfall for that is, if your not around a free wifi signal, no internet. They are releasing shortly a IPad that has built in 3G modem, but there you would have to pay the data plan charges to use.

The iPod Touch and the iPad have Wi-Fi, so it will get Internet if you’re at a Wi-Fi hotspot (some hotspots are free, like at McDonalds). Soon you’ll also be able to get iPads that have AT&T data access, so they’ll get Internet in a wider area (but you will need to pay for the AT&T access).

Apple has wireless-n (WiFi) iPad version OR a version with wireless-n and 3G wireless.
For 3G it will only be $15 for 250MB a month or $30 for unlimited 3G internet.
You can choose an iPad that’s wifi enabled and will access the internet in free in wifi hotspots. You can also choose an iPad that has both wifi and 3g internet access. However, to use 3g, you will have to buy a monthly plan from AT&T.
