I’m going to a university next year and have a MacBook Pro. I want an iPad but can’t really find a super practical use for it since I have the laptop. Input?

do you want your personal info stolen like thousands of other IPad owners? why waste the money on it, rumor is thay are going to add a higher definition screen and a camera for video calls, like the did on the IPhone. Buy a tablet PC, it can multitask.

I also have a MacBook and I just bought an iPad a couple of days ago. Really an ipad is nothing better than a laptop. There are many apps and games available to play and it is quite fun. I can only see this being good in your situation if you want s very portable device to carry around to classes to take notes on. I have started to read ebooks on it and it is really amazing! So to me, the iPad is amazing but really it’s just something fun to have and use. Hope this helps!
Overall, the iPad isn’t worth it. A PC Windows laptop or MacBook is much more worth it and laptops are cheapest and fastest. I’d put my money elsewhere enter all the sweepstakes I can to get one instead. I could do without a touch-screen apple netbook clone when HP, Sony and everyone else will have competitors out and decently priced soon, whereas the standard ipod is overpriced.

This is materialistic era there is no need of many things that we own or we want to own. If it’s not a big burden on your wallet, get it don’t think much.

I have computer in my office and iMac at home. I didn’t even need MacBook pro when i already had Toshiba Satellite laptop.
Now I got iPad and some incredible apps.My ipad can do almost everything that a laptop does on regular basis but ipad is much faster to do things.Its faster not because of processor speed but because of user interface and innovative apps.
I love to create word document,professional grade spreadsheet and presentation on it. Great thing is I can upload all these works to any WebDAV server in flash.
The time,a PC takes to boot, is enough for an iPad to finish many jobs.
iPad did two changes for me.
Fist my iPhone battery started to last for significantly longer because I no longer browse the web, watch video and play game son it.
Second , my laptop Macbook Pro is out of job.
I use iPad for even extra display of my office computer and downloading media , software from websites. Later I transfer downloaded softwares to PC.
Some amazing apps like Netflix,Abc ,Downloader and GoodReader makes iPad an one stop solution for all your computing needs.
Why I prefer iPad over laptop:
It does almost everything but still it’s super light and i. Don’t have to look for power outlet during my work. Battery lasts whole day even I use it continuously.
It has many pre defined and personalized apps that makes life much faster and easier like uploading things to WebDAV server, mooing files from DropBox to Google Doc or vice versa.
I have many thousands amazing games that I can download anywhere anytime.
Netflix runs on iPad faster and smoother than computer.
Some games give serious competition to entry to mid level PC games.
Gaming on iPad is way better than PSP,Nintendo DS.
Watching High Definition video on such a light and sleek device is a treat.
